Our Story

Alexander’s Story

The story of a husband, father, and fighter — told by the woman who loved him most.

Alex (Sasha to those who’ve known him since he was a baby) is my husband. We’ve been married since May 19, 2012 and he has been battling cancer since May 2010. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in May 2010 and went through rigorous treatments before he received his bone marrow transplant on May 17, 2011.

By God’s sovereign plan, his sister, Tanja, was a PERFECT match. Sasha and I were married a year later and he was recovering beautifully and going for monthly checkups at City of Hope ever since then. God had perfectly aligned and put everything in place to make it possible for us to try to have children….and we did.

Logan Alexander was entrusted to us in August 2014! Fast forward to today….January 16, 2015. The doctors found a few lumps in his body and they are going to start treatments now. We found out on Wednesday afternoon and they are admitting him into the hospital on Friday. He will be at UCI Medical for up to 30 days and the goal is to get him in remission and then he will need to have a bone marrow transplant again. (Thank you Tanja!) This type of cancer is called Chloroma and they say it’s a relapse of the leukemia but in the form of tumors.

I’ve started this page so that all of our friends, family and loved ones are able to receive updates and share the journey with us. I will be documenting things daily and we ask that you pray alongside us for strength and mercy that only our triune God can give. Sasha and I serve a mighty mighty God who can do all things and we know He answers prayers, not in the genie-wish kind of way, but in ways that we need and we didn’t even know we needed it.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Psalm 18:2
